£1-a-pasty days for Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust
Staff from two of our shops donned fancy dress to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, our designated charity for 2017.
Staff dressed up as pirates, zombies and witches for two charity days in 2016 outside the Helston shop (in October) and Camborne shop (December).
During the two events, the staff sold all their standard pasties for £1 each for the whole day. Louise Ford, from The Cornish Oven HQ, said: “We have been doing this event at Camborne ever since opening the shop back in 2010. There is usually such a buzz about the event that customers begin asking when it will be from the end of the summer onwards.”
Shop staff handed out free drinks and sweets to the patient customers in the long queues awaiting their bargain pasty. There was a town band playing family favourites, foot-tapping tunes and the customers were encouraged to donate to our chosen charity.
“Our pound-a-pasty days would not be a success without the great support from our customers who donate so generously,” added Louise. “The fun and frolics between our staff and the ‘queue out the door’ is testimony that we don’t just sell pasties but make friends along the way. ‘Pasties for £1’ is a way we can say thank you. A very busy but enjoyable two days were had by all. Roll on next year.”
